The Lord's Prayer
How often do we attend a function and The Lord's prayer is recited. Sadly this most often takes place at funerals.

When you observe the grieving individuals you will note that most of them know this prayer off by heart, but how many of them have recited it outside the realm of a sad event.

Even going one step further, how many of us as Christians recite this prayer on a daily basis. The most powerful tool we have as Christians is to be able to talk to our Father. Jesus gave us the simplest of words to speak to the Lord and by far the most powerful of that exist in our world.

We all fall into the trap of doing things by habit and this regrettably applies to our prayer life as well.

The following is my perspective on how my heavenly Father meant me to apply the prayer that Jesus gave us to my personal life.
Our Father who art in heaven.....
How much more simple could Jesus have told us that our Father is in heaven waiting for us to speak to him.

Hallowed
be thy name....
Just as we are suppose to greet our fellow man on earth with respect Jesus sets the example of how we are to greet our Father, with reverence and respect.

Thy Kingdom Come...
We as Christians are constantly waiting for the return of Jesus. And when he does then the kingdom of God will come with him. But are we really read?. I ask myself each day if Jesus were to return today am I ready? In other words is he going to be pleased with the state he finds me in? So when we are asking for the Kingdom to come we need to ensure that we are worthy to live in it.

Thy Will Be Done ,as In Heaven,So In Earth...
One can only imagine what earth would be like if things were done the same as they are in heaven. It's something we all truly have a desire for. On earth if we want something we ask for it. Why is that we have the opportunity to ask the Father for the very thing we desire the most and we don't do it?We has Christians truly believe that God answers prayer. Yet we neglect to ask him in just simple words. He couldn't have made it any easier for us.

Give Us Day By Day Our Daily Bread...
We need food to survive, God knows this and tells us what to ask for. Whatever food comes our way during the day comes from him.
I like to think that when I remember to ask our Father for my daily bread then I am getting what my body needs. Not like on the days when I forget to ask, then I probably end up with what my body wants. The high fat greasy foods. This is just another example of our taking the life for granted.

And Forgive Us Our Sins For We Also Forgive Everyone That Is Indebted To Us....
Do we really forgive those that we figure have done us wrong? I have no doubts that most of want to, but we just don't seem to be able to find it within us to accomplish this. They is the key "find it within us". Speaking about myself I perhaps forgot to invite the Lord within myself on these days and that's why its so difficult to let go of the anger and grudge I may hold against someone.

And Lead Us Not Into Temptation,But Deliver Us From All Evil...
It sounds a little strange to ask a Loving God such as ours not to lead us into temptation. Would a loving God do that? Of course not... But what Jesus is showing us here is the almighty power of the Father. He has the power to do whatever he wills with us.
