Walk With Me...My Journey Part One
One cool Sunday afternoon in late August as I lazed about soaking in all the sun, I happened to glance down and notice a slight swelling around my left ankle. No pain,no marks just a little swelling. Nothing to worry about as I figured clumsy old me had just given it a bit of a knock.
Within a few days the foot got bigger and bigger. Now I was getting a bit concerned so off I went to our small local town Hospital. X rays didn't show any significant, so the Doctor figured it was just a small sprain.
As the days progressed the ankle became badly infected. Another trip to a bit bigger Hospital this time turned up a severe infection but not the cause of the original problem. After several days and several visits to several Doctors, still no answer as to what was wrong. The infection had cleared up but the original problem was still there.
If was time to find a new Family Doctor which I did rather far away though. About three hours drive. Anyhow she is wonderful and was fully concerned about the problem. She began to suspect possibly bone cancer and send me for a barrage of tests and to numerous specialists. Still no answers. No indication of bone cancer.
My Doctor was still not giving up. One of the tests she had ordered was a mammogram. It is believed that some bone cancer particularly in the leg can be a secondary cancer to breast cancer. I wasn't concerned as I had my routine mammogram done two years before and all was fine.
Within a few days I got that dreaded phone call. Something showed and needed a biopsy. To make a long story short I am now on my way tomorrow for a mastectomy of my left breast.
So what happened with the foot? Its still a mystery, no indication of cancer, no diagnosis. Although it does seem to be much better.
As a Christian I know I am in God's loving hands. I write this as hope and encouragement to all that may be facing the same plight as I.
Be sure and read Part Two of this story once I get home from Hospital. In the meantime God bless and remember you are in the Master's hands.
